There are three required electives for AGS that are only open to Academy students; AP Human Geography, AP Seminar, and AP Research.  Senior year all high school students must take a govt/econ to graduate.  AGS students will take AP Comp Govt/AP Macro to fulfill this requirement.  In addition, all high school students must take a world and US history course to graduate from high school.  AGS students will take the AP versions of these courses.  AGS students are free to take college prep, honors or AP courses in all other subjects.  Due to the wide variety of choices students have in math and science, AGS leaves these courses open so students can take whichever courses interest them.  See sample schedule at the bottom of this page.

In addition, all AGS students must take one college course before graduation. The course must be in-person and approved by the AGS Director in advance. This requirement provides Academy students with an opportunity to take a course that speaks to their passions and to gain valuable experience in a college setting. Students can take this course anytime between 9-12th grade years. The travel experience is tied to a class through George Mason University. This is the only online class that fulfills the requirement. The class is free and students have 6 months to from the time the trip ends to complete the course. AGS students who travel with us are not required to take the trip as a course, they can simply go on the trip. While not required, AGS students who select to take 2 college courses will also receive the NMUSD Seal of Excellence. CdM has partnered with Coastline College and does offer 1-2 college courses on our campus during the school year.
