How do I apply?
Signature Academy Applications will be available online starting in March. If needed, computers are available at the school sites or the District office. All students will apply directly to the academy via this website.
Do I have to reside within Newport-Mesa attendance area to apply?
Yes. Newport-Mesa only accepts enrollment of students who reside within the Newport-Mesa Unified School District’s attendance boundaries.
May we apply to more than one school?
Yes. You must submit a separate application online for each academy.
Will it benefit me to have my child’s application completed on the first day?
No. All applications are date stamped to verify that they were submitted during the open enrollment time. All applications submitted during Signature Academy enrollment have an equal chance.
Can parents get a tentative approval if they have to pay private school tuition prior to the May notification date?
No. Unfortunately, no tentative approvals are given.
Where do I send support documents (transcripts and letters of recommendation)?

Can you apply as a sophomore?
AGS is a 4-year Academy and commitment. That being said, sometimes we have transfer students or others that miss the deadline to apply as 8th graders and wish to join during or at the end of their sophomore year. We therefore do consider a very limited number of sophomore applicants but these students must still complete the entire breadth of the program. This means they will need to find a place in their schedule between 10-12th grade to take the AP Human Geography class. They must commit to this before their applications will be considered. This commitment should be articulated in their application.
